Description

A savory Tex-Mex layered casserole featuring seasoned beef, tomato sauce, sour cream, and a crispy Doritos topping. The buttery crescent roll crust adds a soft base while the chips provide a bold crunch, making it a hearty weeknight favorite for families.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef (80/20 or 90/10 lean)
1 oz taco seasoning packet
3 tablespoons water
8 oz can tomato sauce
14.5 oz can diced tomatoes (optional, drain well)
8 oz sour cream
1 can crescent rolls (8-9 rolls)
1 cup crushed Doritos
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (optional, not specified in content)

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375°F
Open and separate crescent rolls; press into a 9×13-inch baking dish to cover the bottom
Brown ground beef in a skillet over medium heat; drain excess fat
Add taco seasoning and 3 tablespoons water, stir to combine
Stir in tomato sauce and diced tomatoes (if using), cooking until slightly thickened
Spread meat mixture over crescent roll crust
Sprinkle half the shredded cheese (if using) over the meat layer
Spoon sour cream in dollops over the top half of the casserole
Sprinkle crushed Doritos evenly over the surface and remaining cheese
Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden

Notes

Ground turkey may be substituted for beef
Doritos can be replaced with crushed corn chips for a simpler version
Glass baking dish recommended for even heat distribution
Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days
Freezes well if wrapped tightly before freezing
