Description

Heart-shaped French toast made with thick-cut bread dipped in a cinnamon-vanilla custard, cooked until golden, and topped with syrup, berries, and powdered sugar.

Tostada francesa en forma de corazón hecha con pan grueso bañado en natillas de canela y vainilla, cocido hasta que esté dorado y cubierto con almíbar, bayas y azúcar en polvo.

Ingredients

4 slices thick-cut bread (brioche, challah, or Texas toast)

2 large eggs

1/4 cup whole milk (or milk of choice)

1 tsp vanilla extract

1 tsp ground cinnamon

1 tbsp sugar (optional)

Pinch of salt

Butter or oil, for cooking

Powdered sugar (optional)

Maple syrup (optional)

Fresh berries (optional)

Whipped cream (optional)

Instructions

1. Whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar (if using), and salt in a shallow bowl.

2. Cut bread into heart shapes using a cookie cutter or sharp knife.

3. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or oil.

4. Dip each heart-shaped bread piece into the egg mixture, coating both sides.

5. Cook for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.

6. Serve warm with powdered sugar, syrup, berries, or whipped cream.

Notes

Use thick bread for the best texture and clean heart shapes.

Avoid soaking the bread too long so it doesn’t fall apart.

Keep cooked French toast warm in a 200°F oven while you cook batches.

Freeze leftovers and reheat in a toaster oven for quick breakfasts.
