Description

A quick 20-minute beef stir-fry with crisp vegetables and savory-sweet soy-hoisin sauce. This umami-rich dish combines tender meat and vibrant veggies for a satisfying, healthy meal ready in under 40 minutes.

Ingredients

1 lb (450g) beef (flank steak, sirloin, or ribeye)
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 tablespoon honey
2 cloves garlic (1 minced, 1 halved for marinating)
1 teaspoon grated ginger (plus ½ tsp for marinating)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 bell pepper
1 cup broccoli (fresh or frozen)
1 carrot
½ cup snap peas
2 green onions (chopped)
1 tablespoon sesame seeds (garnish)

Instructions

Thinly slice beef against the grain. Toss with 1 tbsp soy sauce, 1 halved garlic clove, and ½ tsp grated ginger for 15-30 minutes
Whisk remaining soy sauce, hoisin, sesame oil, honey, minced garlic, and ginger to make sauce
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Sear beef 2-3 minutes, then remove
Add remaining oil. Stir-fry carrots, bell pepper, broccoli, and snap peas 3-4 minutes
Return beef to pan, add sauce, and cook 1-2 minutes until heated through
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds before serving

Notes

Marinating beef enhances flavor but can be skipped
Frozen broccoli works if thawed ahead
Adjust sweetness by adding ½ tsp vinegar to balance the sauce
Use canola or vegetable oil for neutral flavor
