Description
These Sweet Banana Bread Blondies are soft, chewy, and packed with rich banana flavor and melty chocolate chips. Made in one bowl with simple ingredients, they combine the comforting taste of banana bread with the buttery texture of classic blondies. Perfect for dessert, snacks, or sharing.
Ingredients
For the Batter:
1/2 cup salted butter, melted and cooled
1/2 cup light brown sugar
2–3 very ripe bananas, mashed
1 large egg (room temperature)
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Dry Ingredients:
1 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
Mix-ins:
3/4 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (high-quality recommended)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease or line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper.
2.
3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter and brown sugar until smooth and glossy.
4.
5. Add the mashed bananas, egg, and vanilla extract. Mix until fully combined and smooth.
6.
7. In the same bowl, sift in the flour, baking soda, and salt. Alternatively, mix dry ingredients separately and add them in.
8.
9. Gently fold the batter using a wooden spoon or spatula until just combined. Do not overmix to maintain a soft texture.
10.
11. Fold in the chocolate chips evenly throughout the batter.
12.
13. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly. Optionally, sprinkle extra chocolate chips on top.
14.
15. Bake for 30–34 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
16.
17. Remove from oven and allow the blondies to cool in the pan for about 5–10 minutes.
18.
19. Lift out, slice into squares or bars, and serve warm or at room temperature.
Notes
Use very ripe bananas with brown spots for the best natural sweetness and flavor.
Avoid overmixing the batter to keep the blondies soft and chewy.
For extra richness, add a handful of chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
These blondies can be slightly underbaked for a fudgier texture or fully baked for a cakier consistency.
