Description
Flaky puff pastry filled with homemade strawberry sauce and sweet cream cheese, braided and baked until golden. Easy bakery-style dessert.
Ingredients
1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
Strawberry Sauce:
2 cups chopped strawberries
1/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon cornstarch
Cream Cheese Filling:
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1/2 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Egg Wash:
1 egg
1 teaspoon water
Topping:
Coarse sugar
Instructions
1. Thaw puff pastry according to package directions.
2. Cook strawberries, sugar, water, and cornstarch until thickened. Cool.
3. Mix cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
4. Preheat oven to 400°F and line baking sheet.
5. Spread cream cheese down center of pastry, top with strawberry sauce.
6. Cut diagonal strips and braid pastry.
7. Brush with egg wash and sprinkle sugar.
8. Bake 20–25 minutes until golden.
9. Cool slightly before slicing.
Notes
Cool filling before assembling.
Do not overfill pastry.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
