Description
Savory One-Pan Chicken with Buttered Noodles is a cozy, easy comfort food dinner made with tender chicken breasts, buttery egg noodles, garlic, chicken broth, and fresh parsley. This simple one-pan recipe is perfect for busy weeknights, meal prep, and satisfying family dinners with minimal cleanup.
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs)
8 oz egg noodles
4 tbsp real butter, divided
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
Salt, to taste
Black pepper, to taste
Instructions
1. Prep your ingredients by mincing the garlic, chopping the parsley, and patting the chicken dry with paper towels. Season the chicken on both sides with salt and black pepper.
2. Heat a large deep skillet over medium-high heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter.
3. Place the chicken breasts in the skillet and sear for about 5 minutes per side, until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
4. Reduce the heat to medium and add the minced garlic to the same skillet. Sauté for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until fragrant.
5. Pour in the chicken broth and scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan with a wooden spoon.
6. Bring the broth to a gentle boil, then stir in the egg noodles. Make sure the noodles are mostly submerged in the liquid.
7. Lower the heat to a simmer and cook the noodles for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are nearly al dente.
8. Return the seared chicken breasts to the skillet, nestling them into the noodles.
9. Continue cooking until the chicken is fully cooked through and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F.
10. Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the remaining 3 tablespoons of butter until melted and glossy.
11. Sprinkle the chopped fresh parsley over the top, taste, and adjust with more salt and pepper if needed.
12. Serve hot, spooning the buttery noodles around and under the chicken.
Notes
Chicken tenders or chicken tenderloins can be used instead of full chicken breasts for faster cooking.
If the noodles absorb too much liquid before becoming tender, add a splash of extra broth.
For extra richness, stir in grated parmesan or a spoonful of cream cheese before serving.
This recipe stores well in the refrigerator for up to 4 days in an airtight container.
Reheat leftovers gently with a splash of broth to loosen the noodles.
Add vegetables like peas, spinach, or mushrooms to make the dish even more filling.
