Creamy broccoli mac and cheese made with tender pasta shells, fresh broccoli, and rich cheddar cheese sauce for an easy family dinner.
Ingredients
8 ounces pasta shells
2 tablespoons butter
2 cloves garlic minced
1 shallot minced
2 tablespoons flour
1 1/3 cups whole milk
1 cup half and half
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
Salt and pepper to taste
3 cups chopped broccoli
6 ounces sharp cheddar cheese grated
Instructions
1. Cook pasta in salted boiling water and drain.
2. Melt butter in skillet.
3. Cook garlic and shallot until fragrant.
4. Whisk in flour and cook briefly.
5. Gradually whisk in milk half and half and Dijon mustard.
6. Cook until sauce thickens.
7. Season with salt and pepper.
8. Stir in pasta broccoli and cheese.
9. Cook until cheese melts and sauce becomes creamy.
10. Serve immediately.
Notes
Use freshly grated cheddar cheese.
Add milk if sauce becomes too thick.
Serve immediately for best texture.
