Festive peppermint Candy Cane Cookies with red and white stripes perfect for Christmas.
Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 tsp peppermint extract
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp salt
Red food coloring
2 tbsp crushed peppermint candies (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 375°F and line baking sheets.
2. Cream butter and sugar until light.
3. Add egg, vanilla, and peppermint extract.
4. Mix in flour and salt.
5. Divide dough and color half red.
6. Roll ropes, twist, and shape into candy canes.
7. Bake 8–10 minutes.
8. Cool and sprinkle with crushed candy.
Notes
Chill dough before shaping for clean twists.
Store in airtight container for up to 1 week.
