Rich and fudgy homemade brownies with deep chocolate flavor and shiny crackly tops. An easy dessert made with simple ingredients and chocolate chips.
Ingredients
1 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 teaspoon espresso powder optional
3/4 cup unsalted butter
2 tablespoons oil
1 and 1/3 cups granulated sugar divided
2 large eggs
1 large egg yolk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract optional
3/4 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
1. Preheat oven to 350°F and line a 9×9 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
2. Sift together flour baking powder salt cocoa powder and espresso powder.
3. In a saucepan melt butter oil and 1/3 cup sugar over medium heat.
4. In a bowl whisk eggs egg yolk vanilla and remaining sugar.
5. Slowly pour warm butter mixture into egg mixture while whisking.
6. Fold dry ingredients into batter until just combined.
7. Stir in chocolate chips gently.
8. Spread batter into prepared pan.
9. Bake 28 to 30 minutes until edges are set and the top is shiny and cracked.
10. Cool completely before slicing.
Notes
Do not overmix batter to keep brownies fudgy.
Allow brownies to cool before cutting.
Use good quality cocoa powder for best flavor.
