Description

This Easy BBQ Chicken Flatbread Recipe is a quick and delicious meal made with crispy flatbread, juicy shredded chicken, smoky barbecue sauce, melted mozzarella and cheddar, and fresh herbs. Perfect for busy weeknights, casual dinners, or party appetizers.

Ingredients

2 flatbreads or naan, store-bought or homemade

1 cup cooked shredded chicken

1/2 cup BBQ sauce, plus extra for drizzling

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

1/4 cup thinly sliced red onion

2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro or parsley

1 tablespoon olive oil or garlic butter, optional

Optional toppings:

pickled jalapeños

bacon bits

crispy fried onions

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.

2. In a bowl, mix the shredded chicken with 1/2 cup BBQ sauce until evenly coated.

3. Place the flatbreads on the prepared baking sheet.

4. Brush the flatbreads lightly with olive oil or garlic butter to help crisp the base and add flavor.

5. Spread a thin layer of BBQ sauce over each flatbread, if desired.

6. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella and cheddar cheese evenly over the flatbreads.

7. Top with the BBQ chicken mixture and thinly sliced red onion.

8. Sprinkle the remaining cheese over the top.

9. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.

10. Remove from the oven and sprinkle with fresh cilantro or parsley.

11. Add optional toppings like pickled jalapeños, bacon bits, crispy fried onions, or an extra drizzle of BBQ sauce.

12. Slice and serve immediately while hot and melty.

Notes

Rotisserie chicken works especially well for this recipe and saves time.

Brushing the flatbread with olive oil or garlic butter helps create a crispier base.

Do not overload the flatbread with toppings or it may become soggy.

Serve immediately for the best texture and flavor.
